Marcelo C. L. Cohen was graduated in Geology (1995) from Federal University of Pará (UFPA), and received a Master degree (1998) in Geochemistry from the same university. He obtained his Ph.D. degree (2003) at the Center for Tropical Marine Ecology, Bremen University, Germany. Since 2004, he is Professor of the Faculty in the Oceanography and the Graduate Program of Geology and Geochemistry at the Federal University of Pará-Brazil. He is Research Productivity-CNPq-Level 1D, and affiliated member of the Brazilian Academy of Sciences. He coordinates the Graduate Programa of Geology and Geochemistry of the Federal University of Pará-Brazil. He has published articles and book chapters about mangroves, sea-level and climatic changes. He has served as the supervisor to Ph.D. and M.Sc. students.
